Process Maintenance Mechanic


Job Summary: We are seeking a hardworking, experienced professional to join our team as a Process Maintenance Mechanic for the Salt Lake City, UT, Elko, NV and Payson, AZ service groups. This is a non-exempt, hourly position that reports directly to the Project Leader.


Job Duties and Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to:

  • Identify and properly use, inspect and maintain personal protective equipment, including but not limited to:       boots, glasses, hardhat, gloves, face shield, goggles, leathers, earplugs
  • A valid driver’s license is required at the time of hire and as a condition of continued employment
  • Must have reliable transportation to get to and from work
  • Be able and willing to work a variety of schedules, including day or night shifts
  • Comply with all policies and procedures in Employee Handbook
  • Ability to fully understand and carry out verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to safely lift 75-100 lbs frequently, using proper lifting techniques
  • Ability to perform and obtain necessary work permits (including confined space procedures), operation of monitoring equipment and all related paperwork and reporting requirements
  • Understand and perform lock out/tag out procedures
  • Identify and use basic rigging/lifting devices (cables, chains, come along, shackles, slings, straps, electric winches)
  • Identify and use basic tools (hand tools: shovel, rake, pick, mill bars, wrenches, sockets, hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, measuring tape) (electric tools: impacts, drills, grinders, chop saw, band saw, winches, air compressor, generators)
  • Must be skilled in use of cutting/welding equipment (torch, welder)
  • Have a basic knowledge of crane signals
  • Ability to operate forklift, come along, air impacts, air hoist, tugger, hydraulic rams, porta powers, pressure washer
  • Ability to hook up truck and trailer combinations
  • Ability to perform pre-trip vehicle inspection (including related paperwork)
  • Assist to load and tie down items on a trailer
  • Ability to complete expense reports in a timely and accurate manner
  • Knowledge of documents required to enter mine site(s)
  • Ability to organize 5000-23’s for all sites (hazard and site specific, annual refresher, badges) and make them available on demand
  • Beginning ability to analyze job and tools required
  • Ability to drive truck/trailer combinations
  • Identify pump parts
  • Identify mill liners and hardware
  • Identify crusher components
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Identify proper rigging for weight
  • Simple fabrication (including cutting and welding)
  • Identify basic metals
  • Operate the following equipment: forklift, man lift, boom truck
  • Identify the tools and equipment needed for the task at hand
  • Align pulley on conveyor system
  • Set conveyor belt tension
  • Ability to identify, set and replace bearings with minimal supervision
  • Ability to perform assigned work in time allotted
  • Assist manager in planning, setup and execution of large and sometimes complex projects
  • Participate in training activities within the group
  • Perform as a leader with subordinates
  • Ability to confidently communicate with staff and customers
  • Act in a professional manner when interacting with customers on job site
  • Ability to look at and quote a simple job
  • Ability to complete a job card fully and accurately
  • Ability to weld HDPE pipe
  • Full knowledge of proper lifting and rigging equipment
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations
  • Perform routine maintenance and liner replacement on all crushing and milling equipment, including cone and gyratory crushers, roaster mills, ball mills, SAG mills, slurry pumps and cyclones
  • Ability to perform conveyor pulley replacement, repair and rebuild
  • Minimum of four of the following specialty skill sets
    • Basic knowledge of process equipment (circle applicable items) including mills, crushers, pumps, agitators, gearboxes, bearings, taper locks, sheaves, hubs, shafts, conveyors pulleys
    • Basic electrical knowledge
    • Basic pipefitting and layout skills
    • Basic ironworking skills
    • Basic fabrication skills
    • Basic blueprint reading
    • Basic knowledge of welding
    • Basic knowledge of shaft to shaft alignment
    • Basic carpentry skills
    • Basic concrete installation
    • Basic rebar installation
    • Certified Welder
    • Mechanic
  • Other job duties as assigned by management



  • Ability to work in various industrial settings, including; Shop environment, mining environment, construction environment, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, rick of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, fumes or airborne particles.
  • While performing the duties of this job, you will be required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
